Why I absolutely hate Kevin Costner

Abstract:
I know I should be writing a political column about something that may or may not actually matter, like the race for president, the environment or the war in Iraq, but God damn it, I just hate that Kevin Costner.

I know it's an election year, and I should probably use this outlet for a meaningful message, but I cannot just sit idly by while I know someone, somewhere, is praising him - that hack who has gained half the public's admiration by always playing the hero....

I'm sorry you were offended, be it ever so slightly.
Since you felt the need to critique my words so I'll critique you.
If you are going to go through life pretending to be an uber-sensitive moral/religious champion and raising an eyebrow from your ivory tower every time you see a "curse-word" in print I feel sorry for you. I'll bet you had a little smirk on your face when you wrote your little quip. "I'll show him." Well La Di Da. Oh no! he said "it"(I'll spare your moral radar from blipping here, I'm sure the poor thing is working overtime). Seriously this is offensive? There are videos on the internet of people eating poo and this is where you set your crosshairs? I'm at a loss here, wait, no I'm not. All Macomb area Christians can go to bed safe and sound tonight knowing they are represented by a nameless enforcer of religious fiber at WIU!!

Hey! First - Her name is Teresa. Next on the agenda was the fact that she didn't claim to be offended. She questioned your ability to express yourself without expletives. Apparently your 'dislike' (for lack of a better word) of the 'Campus Christians' tinted your perception to the extent that Teresa's comment was construed as an attack on your constitutional freedoms.

Finally, while I have to side with Teresa in any dispute on this exact topic, I have to admit that I, too, despise Kevin Costner.

Well there here's someone who finally can take the message the world is ready to hear and is able to succinctly package it for the masses. Scott my hat is off to you for it is important to remember who Kevin Costner really is, a nobody. He ranks in the above average movie star category along with those like Val Kilmer who really have no part in the game anymore because they can't act or do anything with substance but people still defend them because they feel they have been in one goo movie which makes up for the next 35 years of crap somehow, and are never able to explain their thinking or rationality for such an attitude. Side note murfe, here is a man who might write for the school paper but at least he has the gumption and balls to do that while you do nothing but sit at home reading it on the toilet thinking of how you can do better yet will never try because of your utter fear of failure so let's keep our attacks to the substance of the column and not to the writer of it next time...

So who is this hack, this joke, this killer of the human spirit, this man named Costner? He is someone to be mocked scorned and destroyed, worthy of the lord's smiting and subsequent final judgment of crimes against his personal creation, yet God sits idly back and let's him go on, still trying to make people shell out their hard money in order to see one of his pictures, he's nothing more of a con artist, who creates nothing but a plight full ruse for 14 minutes yet the rest of the hour and 30 minutes we sit there trying to keep out eyes open and our minds occupied by doing multiplication tables or something equally mundane in order to occupy what shred of brain activity we might have left from watching him on the screen, and then he takes his douche baggery further as he builds ad campaigns and Oscar buzz on that 14 minutes, and the studio and those of you who stand by him are doing nothing about it. You sit back in your chair and pretend nothing is wrong as you trick yourself into thinking you are being entertained when in reality you are nothing, nothing but mindless drones worthy mostly as extras in a George A. Romero film. Teresea here's an answer to your criticism, maybe you should take your Christian hockin ass back home and leave good comments and articles to those of us who like to respond with fact and substance not something factious like the heinous notion that there is a God, and maybe Mr. McGrew's problem is that God has not struck Costner down, yet is responsible for the fate of good actors like Heath Ledger, that alone should make you question your intelligence for believing in such ridiculous notion as a God especially the Christian God.

To those of you who read this post and agree with Scott I say to you courage young minds, you freedom lovers, you patriots of movies, it is to those I say, I am respected and humbled by your shrewd judgment and your ability to reason. To those who like Costner, to you I say it's time for someone to turn the wheel in your back so you continue to walk around like a mindless automaton, a spineless drone, who sits at home watching fox news because it is too hard to form your own opinion and think for yourself, someday you might be able to cross over the line to the enlightened, to lift the shackles off your shoulders and actually hold your head up in pride and say to yourself "I Am MAN" followed by a hearty "I Hate Costner!" How I hope you do, until that glorious day, as if inspired by bullshit biblical prophecy itself, when we all stand together with pitchforks and torches a la Carthage chasing down Joseph Smith and we end his reign of tyranny, we will track down Costner and drag him out of his house, smash to pieces all his Nazi paraphernalia and finally return to our Midwestern roots of tar and feathering.

Until that day courage my friends, my fellow patriots, who know what acting is and are able to discern those who know that playing the same role over and over does not a great actor make...unless you're Tom Hanks.

Ken, I'm flattered. And flattery my friend will get you everywhere. I wrote this column with the sole(or is is it soul? No, that's a reference to Xtian mythology and would most certainly get an angry response from our resident 13th disciple, Sub Parenth sometimes I make myself laugh End Parenth) goal of providing something different. I'd read so many columns in the Courier that just rehashed the previous month's garbage that I was starting to get a little sick; this was my antidote. "If you don't support Bush You're a Commie or I Planted a Tree and I'm better than you" Get the Picture? Here is a hint kiddies, if you want to entertain your readers don't just write about something that some "professional" writer did waaaaay better in the previous week's USA Today. Its college! Do something different. My different was sharing my hatred for Costner. Big whoop, I could give a hoot if you agree with me or not, I'm just looking for a laugh or two..... plus the pints of Newcastle I spent the $16 I got paid to write the thing.

Kevin Costner is annoying for all the reasons of being a heart of gold cliché. Really, he is so bland and boring that even Ron Howard could have played Eliot Ness in his place while creating a more compelling performance. However, I particularly can't stand the way he gleefully allows himself to be the kiss-up toy for conservatives, knot-headed baseball types and most nauseating of all, George W. Bush. So he's soaked his complacent ass in the White House swimming pool and played like a retarded kid with the Bush clan. Now the douche bag is bragging about the Costner Ranch. I hope he makes another Water World and the IRS takes his ranch away stick by stick. If he wants to add integrity to his acting, he should play a villainous golf-playing kiss-up to President Moron that owns an obscene degree of land so he employs robots to keep the homeless off his many estates.

Wow, by reading these few paragraphs, I could immediately tell that this wasn't written by a seasoned professional writer. You my friend are an absolute moron.

You can't watch a movie and take it for what it is? When you read a book like Cinderella do you immediately irritated and tell your friends that the story is crap because people really can't speak to mice? Dances with Wolves by the way, had won NUMEROUS awards including BEST ACTOR and BEST DIRECTOR which also was WHO????? Kevin Costner. Hmmmm....all I hear are crickets now......I could go on and on about Kev, but I don't really need to since his work speaks volumes. Just because he plays the good guy, doesn't make him a bad guy.

Since this is for a Universty paper, I'm sure you didn't graduate....unless of course there is some sort of Special Ed. course for retard news columnists.

Please write about something you may know something more about. Don't pick on Kev. He rocks! I don't think he can sing very well though.

Maybe it's because nobody posts anything interesting here during the summer or I've been sitting in my office all morning and am feeling like a jerk, but I can't resist this. Sean, you're seriously hearing crickets? Maybe you're hearing them because you're sitting a computer and no one has the chance to actually verbalize their response to your mind numbing thought vomit. I would love the opportunity to call you or meet you in a public place to completely humiliate you for your inane rant.

Perhaps there is also a course for people who don't have a sense of humor. (I would be more than willing to lecture on why Nickelback sucks.)I think you would be a great candidate and you may use this response as a recommendation.

Who cares if the movie has won awards? Awards don't make a movie good. They don't make an actor good and they certainly don't insure that everyone will share the lemming opinion that seems to exist in your fantasy world that no doubt includes a firm belief in unicorns and leprechauns.

You immediately irritated? Will the real moron please stand up? No no no sit down stupid. Dances With Wolves is the kind of lazy Hollywood movie that is only entertaining to square heads. When I was in the service, some idiot Lieutenant ordered a projectionist to play Wolves instead of Good Fellows at the USO. What a square head. Imagine some jerk interrupting Good Fellows for that? The only film he was tolerable in was The Untouchables, but really he could have been replaced by a number of more charismatic actors. It is primarily Costner's complacency and admiration of Bush that is disgusting.

Haha, I have to agree with you, Kevin Costner is a terrible actor. I'm only happy that the fantastic Alan Rickman completely upstaged him in Robin Hood, despite the fact that Costner casted himself as the heart of gold hero and Rickman was the antagonist.
