Macomb is growing

Abstract:
Macomb is, as we are all aware, not a large community; some would even call it small. With a population of 20,000 people, it is far from the count of Chicago, or even Springfield.

However, for its low census, the economic development coordinators of Macomb have not been doing a bad job at attempting to incorporate new businesses into this town....

Summary..."MACOMB IS GROWING"

Macomb is not a large community, some might say small. With a population of 20,000, it is smaller than Chicago.

However, the economic developers have not been doing poorly. There are a couple new restaurants, one new bar and one new apartment complex.

We already have bars and putt-putt golf. There is no mall, no Applebee's, no video arcade.

Macomb does what it can though. With a population of 20,000, it is smaller than Chicago.

There really isn't much here. But if you are desperate to fill space in the Courier, some of the places in The Square are worth mentioning.

You may be annoyed that Macomb is a small town. The fact remains, it is not a big city. There are some things to do for those who live here. The city planners should be applauded.

If you don't like Macomb being a small town, then leave. No one is stopping you.

IS THIS REALLY WHAT THE COURIER HAS COME TO???!!!

The article is kind of harsh, but I agree, for a small town, what do people expect? Seriously. I graduated in 2001 and there were only about 7 bars (still plenty, trust me, better than the bars at Bradley or U of I Champaign). The smaller the town and further away from a large city, the lower the tuition tends to be, isn't that what matters? My student loans are way lower than all of my friends who went to schools in the Chicagoland area. I'm grateful my student loans are so low, it helps since my husband's are astounding, especially after law school in DC!

The point of WIU is to get a degree all the while having the "college" experience and living away from home, without the huge cost.

In comparison to my brother, who attends Depaul in Chicago, can't afford parking and lives at home because the cost of living in Lincoln Park is so expensive, I was pretty lucky. A degree is merely a degree, what you do with it is what counts.
