Abstract:
For those looking to luxuriate in a grandiose manner, the Grand Escape Day Spa, located at 420 E. Jackson St., offers all of the amenities to make it happen....
It's nice seeing local business in the spot light. I would like to however point you into the direction of the first full service spa in Macomb. it's name is The R&R Spa. It's been open on the square as part of a trio of businesses since January.
They are the original one stop shop and they have expanded their business to suit the needs of their clients. While the new spa's owner says you will not find one person performing 4 services on a person, what I like about the R&R is that you get to know the person performing your services. I recently did my bridal party there and I loved it. I had exactly two people wait on me hand and foot for over four hours. They even offered me beverages and food from The Secret Garden which is this cute little tea room and restaraunt located in their building. I had Lisa, their owner who is a licensed massage technician, and the male cosmetologist Jason perform my services. I don't feel at all jaded by the fact that their services are performed by the same people during the course of my visit there. I think it goes to prove that they know what they are doing and that they care about their clients. I wouldn't have liked to have more than the two people I had perform services on me. It is nice they (the new spa) has received "special" training in their stuff, but what about the customer experience. I don't think I like it.
I recently visted the new spa to take a look at what another spa had to offer. I have to say that while the building itself was "chic" and "modern" it was also cold, clinical, and the atmosphere was lacking. What I like about the gals at R&R is that fact that they are proficient in what they do, the surroundings are homey and personal, and the staff makes you feel at home.
Where is the feature on The R&R? I know many college girls at our school who love Jase, Lisa, Sarah and their new girls Missy and Sharon. Jase is the talk of all my friends for his facials, his wonderful customized pedicures with massages to die for, his professional yet surprisingly at ease attitude for body waxing including brazilians, Lisa for her care to detail, her wonderful massage that was completely customized for my likings and wants, Sarah for her personality and how a punk rocker girl can make it in a professional business (i haven't had any services performed by her yet), and the others for the way they make The R&R Work.
Give them a try, and I am sure you will love them just like I do and many of my friends. They have great prices and services. They are always looking at bringing what we want to the business verses forcing things on us. If the Grand Escape is to learn, they should learn from Lisa and her crew... starting smaller is better, don't intimidate us with all these fancy chi-chi descriptions and out of this world pricing for services, and smaller is better. Grow when it is time and always leave room for improvement!!!!
