How to get the most out of tailgating

One of the best parts about going to college football games is tailgating before the game. Who doesn't love getting together with friends, having a good time, grilling and drinking a few beers before the game?
To make tailgating a truly great experience, there are a few things you need to do. The first and foremost thing to do is prepare - if you do not plan ahead, the chances of you having a good time drop drastically.
What exactly do you need to prepare for? First of all, you need to make sure you have a vehicle in the Pit, probably the night before or early in the morning the day of the game. Trucks are better, but if all you have is a car, then that will suffice, too.
Second, you need to make sure you have plenty of food and beverages. Whether you're bringing pre-made food or grilling when you get there, you need to make sure you have all your bases covered, especially if you'll be drinking beer or any other type of alcoholic beverage. You'll need some food to soak up all that alcohol.
Make sure you do not get wasted. No one likes to babysit, especially at tailgating when there are people everywhere and things get crazy. Also, don't forget that there are no glass bottles or containers allowed in the Pit.
The group of people you are with is also pretty important. If you are with people who like to enjoy themselves and know how to do it, the chance of you having a good time increases. To have a great day, you need to make sure you have something to do besides eat and drink.
Make sure that someone in the group will provide some type of entertainment, whether it's a game such as bags (or corn hole), washers, ladder golf or various other drinking games. Music is also another good form of entertainment, so make sure you bring some music that everyone wants to listen to.
One major way to ruin your fun at tailgating is by not dressing appropriately, so check the forecast and dress for the weather. The forecast for Saturday's Homecoming game is a bit chilly.
Another way to ensure a good time is a stop by the hillbilly pool for a dip. This group of friendly guys fill up the back of a truck with water every week during tailgating and love having new people stop by and hop in.
Remember to relax and have fun. Don't let silly stuff or ignorant people ruin your good time. If you follow these simple steps, which mainly involve planning ahead, you are sure to have a good time the next time you go tailgating.
