Thanksgiving is upon us once again, and students in grade schools across the country will be learning about the "original Thanksgiving," where the Pilgrims and Native Americans came together for a great feast.

Schoolchildren will don paper hats and feathered headbands and consume a mock "feast.

I'm going to come out and say it: people are stupid.

I know this isn't news, really, but every day I still manage to be amazed somehow at the evidence that pours in daily. My latest head-shaking bit of news, you ask? The fact that people are actually being banned from hanging their laundry outside to dry in the sun.

Courtney Love has taken her shenanigans to a technological level. According to CNN.com, she had to delete her Twitter account this week because she "tweeted" libelous remarks against a fashion designer, who is now pressing charges. Derogatory tweets from Love about this woman included that she had dealt cocaine in her past.

Recently, Congressman Phil Hare announced that he supports moving Guantanamo Bay detainees to the Thomson Correctional Facility, on the basis that it will create thousands of jobs. While his logic is pretty simple, I don't believe that just one terrorist prison is enough.

My first pets were free goldfish given away at Wal-Mart when I was five. Newsflash: there's a reason they're free. Within the span of a day, all three of my fish had gone belly-up. Well, that's kind of a lie - only two went belly-up.

The big one, which I had named Goldie, ate the other two in front of me, and I was so traumatized I flushed the cannibal fish down the toilet alive.

With our emergence into the dating scene and reaching the age where we can legally enter bars, we are also exposed to the peculiarities of picking people up. There are subtle ways, like offering lingering glances, winks and such, there is the "natural" technique, which is simply striking up a conversation, and then there is the method it seems several people tend to fall back on: the cheesy pick-up line.
