Circus stomps into town
Giant reptiles, llamas, glamas, zebus, tigers, elephants, an inflatable slide, showgirls and guys and screams of "Popcorn! Cotton candy!" all vied for the attention of the Macomb community Monday afternoon and evening at the Carson and Barnes Circus.
Sponsored by the Macomb Park District, the circus set up a tent in a large grassy lot on East University Drive, parking numerous trailers and booths crammed full of kid-stopping sites.…

The Macomb City Council named Western Illinois University student, Brandon Leindl, as the new 2nd Ward alderman Wednesday night.
Leindl, senior psychology and graphics communications double major. He was chosen by Mayor Mick Wisslead from a list of many other applicants.…

Fall enrollment up from last year
The student body population increased this year, with 13,558 students now attending Western Illinois University.
The increase caused Western to close freshman admissions in early August. This is the first time in recent memory that Western has had to stop admitting new students prior to the beginning of the school year.…

Free speech circle discussed with SGA

Mississippi River gets make-overAlpha Gamma Rho men volunteer and clean up the Mississippi River Bank in Fort Madison, Iowa
Like most people from river towns, Chad Pregracke has a deep respect for the body of water on the banks of which he grew up. A Quad Cities native, Pregracke worked on barges and as a commercial shell-diver during his high school and college days.
During one of his shell-diving gigs, Pregracke went ashore one of the river's many islands and was saddened by what he saw on the riverbank - yachts anchored around 60 to 70 abandoned barrels.…
