Rec renovation rolls on
Bad weather and a steel shortage are being blamed for an estimated two-month delay in completing the $5.4 million expansion of the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center.
Work on the center was originally scheduled to be finished by August 25, but it now appears that renovations will not come to a "substantial completion" - barring any other delays - until mid-October, according to Western Illinois University.…

Macomb police officer rewarded for saving suicidal woman's life
The courageous acts of a local police officer were rewarded over the summer. Officer James Rowland of the Macomb Police Department received the Life Saving Medal award June 6 for saving an attempted suicide victim.
Rowland was one of the officers responding to a suicide complaint on March 18 when a suicidal woman shot herself in the chest.…
