Rialto Cinemas opens its doors to the public
The Rialto Cinema will open its doors for the first time on Thursday, June 18 at 9 p.m. for a sneak peek with the official opening on Friday. Rialto will seat 650 people split between six separate screening rooms. Student earns Employee of the Year Award

David Sharer, a senior computer science major from Fulton, Ill., was named Student Employee of the Year at the end of the Spring 2009 semester at Western Illinois University. Sharer, a student worker in Western's Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood, used the expertise developed in his major to design, develop, maintain and revise websites that allow the department to educate and communicate effectively.… 1 Comment

Designers earn honors

Recent Western Illinois University graduate Alex Lake (Arlington Heights, Ill.), a graphic communication major, is a "quack" shot when it comes to T-shirt design. Lake's winning design -- based on the early Nintendo game "Duck Hunt" -- "brought down" first place in the "Leisure Service" category in the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association's T-shirt and Apparel Competition at NIRSA's annual conference in April.… Post the First Comment

Bierman named Supervisor of the Year at Western Illinois

Matt Bierman, director of residential facilities at Western Illinois University, has been named the 2009 Employee of the Year by the Council of Administrative Personnel (COAP) for his extraordinary leadership of Western's housing division.
