Becky Allen tied her career-best round of 75, finishing tied for 11th place as the Western Illinois women's golf team finished in 11th place at the Saluki Invitational, Monday.

The Western junior led the Westerwinds with a two-round score of 151 (76, 75), which was her best two-round score this season. Allen's 151 surpassed her previous low of 156, set at the UMKC Kenneth Smith Classic, Oct. 16. The 11th-place tie was the best finish of any Western golfer and Allen's fourth top-15 finish of the year.

Freshman Claire Gursh also tied her best two-round score of the season with a 162 (82, 80). Gursh tied for 48th place and teammate Jennifer Holt finished in 65th place with a score of 168 (90, 78). Four strokes behind Holt was teammate Lindsay Wandrey, who tied for 68th place with two rounds of 86 for a total of 172. Rounding out the lineup for Western in 71st place was Elizabeth Fernandes with a score of 179 (90, 89).

Playing as individuals, Nerissa Hetzel landed in 73rd place with a score of 183 (89, 94), while Jenna Keane tied for 78th place with a score of 194 (98, 96).

Western's team score was 653 (334, 319), only two strokes from its best team finish this season. Host Southern Illinois took first place with a score of 584 (299, 285). Eighteen strokes off first place was Illinois State and three strokes behind the Redbirds was Missouri Valley Conference rival Bradley to wrap up the Top 3 teams.

The Westerwinds play one final tournament at the Illini Spring Classic, April 4-5, at Urbana, Ill., before hosting the Summit League Championships, April 20-22.
