•March 31, at 2:18 p.m., a student reported that his backpack - containing two textbooks, a cell phone and homework valued at $250 - was stolen from the Leslie F. Malpass Library at approximately 1:30 p.m. He had set the backpack down near a study cubicle on the fourth floor and was gone for approximately 25 minutes. When he returned the backpack was gone. The backpack, and all of its contents, was found on April 1.
•March 31, at 2:51 p.m., a student reported that she has been receiving harassing calls to her cell phone. The incident is under investigation.
•April 1, at 10:30 a.m., it was reported that two Sony cameras (no cost given) were missing from a Horrabin Hall classroom.
•April 1, at 10:58 a.m., a remote touchpad for a computer system, valued at $1,500, was missing from a Stipes Hall classroom.
•April 1, at 1:19 p.m., a student reported that he was the victim of identity theft.
•April 1, at 8:02 p.m., a student reported his clothing, keys, jump drive and ID had been stolen from an unlocked locker in the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center between 5 and 6 p.m. The clothing and ID were located in Q-lot; however, the keys and jump drive, valued at $85, were not found. The incident is under investigation.
•April 2, at 9:37 a.m., an employee in Horrabin Hall reported two Sony cameras had been stolen from a classroom in addition to the two that were reported stolen on April 1. (No value listed.)
•April 2, at 3:10 p.m., a student reported that a group of persons known to him verbally threatened him in the University Union Heritage Room on Saturday, March 29.
•April 2, at 3:17 p.m., two students reported being harassed verbally and on Facebook by a person known to them.
•April 2, at 10:16 p.m., one student in Bayliss Hall was judicially referred for possession of cannabis.
•April 3, at 1:51 p.m., Eric B. Mosley, 43, of 1507 E. Jackson St., was arrested at West Pierce and North Lafayette streets for criminal damage of government property and trespassed from the Western Illinois University campus after he allegedly damaged a telephone and newspaper vending machine in the University Union. He was lodged in the McDonough County Jail.

Ok this is freaking stupid... How can you not see a bus coming and walk in front of it?? THEY ARE BIG THEY DON'T STOP EASILY... That idiot is lucky to be alive, I feel sorry for the poor driver who had that happen to. (Continued…)

I totally agree with you and I'm happy that a student said it.
I've driven by the campus numerous times because my husband works there and it's also a short cut to get where I'm going sometimes and I can't count how many times I've had students just stroll out into the street in front of me, making it necessary for me to slam on my brakes. (Continued…)

The University needs to make students aware that being drunk and/or stupid does not give you a license to do whatever you please. Walking in front of a bus? It's just ANOTHER example of students who are completely oblivious to their surroundings and/or have a sense of entitlement so strong that they feel that the entire world should stop for them. I agree Brad. I'm mystified as to why a state trooper would put up with this and didn't do anything other than yell at them.
What really floors me is that when I read the OPS beat or the Macomb Police blotter, I see all kinds of students being ticketed for underage possession of alcohol, but very rarely (in fact I can't remember one)case of anyone being ticketed for public intoxication. (Continued…)
