Whalen quietly put together one of the best women's cross country resumes in the history of Western Illinois during her four years in Macomb.

The senior topped off her last year at Western by running the second-fastest women's 6K in the school's history en route to a 71st-place finish (21:58) at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Bradley.

Whalen landed in eighth place at the Summit League Championships two weeks before Regionals by running the 6K event in 22:22 at Spring Lake Park in Macomb. For her efforts, she earned Second Team All-Summit honors.

In the season-opening meet, Whalen picked up a first-place finish at the Eastern Illinois Early Bird Invitational, running a 22:49.
