The Western women's soccer team finished the 2007 season with a 16-3-1 record and a perfect 8-0 mark against Summit opponents. The 'Winds outscored their opponents 36-16 but were defeated by Oakland in the conference championship game.
Still, this team embodied every sense of the word. The highest goal scorer, junior Ashley Hoch, had seven goals. Two players had six, one had five and one had four.
Defensively, the goalies combined for a 0.78 goals against average. Sophomore Meghan Tyk led the way, starting 16 games and boasting 0.69 goals against average, including five shutouts.
First-year coach Tony Guinn inherited an upperclassmen-laden team and did everything he was supposed to (not screw it up). He was able to put his touch on the team without experiencing any hiccups throughout the season.
