Rock N Records is the best record/curio shop in Macomb. The fact that Wal-Mart, of all places, won best record store in Best of Macomb is upsetting. I can't tell you how many times I have gone into Wal-Mart thinking, "Let me go get a CD," and lo and behold, it isn't there.

This is no truer than when I look for less mainstream artists or those that are just starting to come up. For example, before Gym Class Heroes or Lupe Fiasco were in every store, I could find these discs at Rock N Records.

On top of that, even if they don't have a CD in stock, they are more than happy to put in an order for it even over the phone. Wal-Mart just isn't going to do that for you.

Rock N Records also has an extensive back catalog of music that will keep anyone happy. Beyond the music, Rock N Records has a small collection of movies, clothing (T-shirts with sarcastic and witty quips and custom jobs, too), art and posters galore (I don't go anywhere else but there to get a poster).

I can't stress enough how much I like the place. If they sold and bought video games like Capitol Music, I would be set, but I am OK with that because it is not the type of place that Rock N Records is. So even if you don't want a CD, stop in and get a poster, a shirt, a movie or a gift. There is a little bit of everything there.

Don't get too upset about the "Best of Macomb" results - people voted Wal-Mart the best place to get your car repaired as well, despite the fact that Wal-Mart IS NOT A CAR REPAIR SHOP. (Continued…)

I agree...even as a "non student" I enjoy Rock N Records. There just aren't too many shops like that around anywhere anymore. I also like Capitol Music, especially if I'm looking for an older CD, I can usually get it used at a good price. (Continued…)
